The Story of Nathan

Nathan Hutchinson, a 2-year-old boy, ceased breathing in his house in March 2020. He was born with Supracardiac Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return, an uncommon heart disease. He’s spent nearly half his life hospitalized ever since, through 2 open-heart surgeries, 4 days on life support, and double-lung transplantation.
Nathan was put on an ECMO device nearly immediately after delivery to provide cardiorespiratory assistance, and he stayed on it until October 18. The Story of Marit

Marit and Paige were childhood friends who shared a passion for art, philosophy, and Converse sneakers. Marit observed her classmate in Grade 12 struggle with the extra medication she had to take because of a liver transplant she underwent as a youngster.
Marit became more aware of the necessity of transplantation as a result of this experience, and she decided to make organ transplants the topic of her senior group project at school. She became even more motivated when she learned that 346 Canadians died while waiting for organ donors in 2012, and 4,529 people were on the transplantation waitlist.

The Story of Liorah

Darline and David were ecstatic when their new baby, Liorah, was born in November of 2018. Their previous kid, Holly, was born with jaundice, so when Liorah developed it, they weren’t very concerned and brought her to the doctor. A blood test was ordered by the doctor, and the results were abnormal. Liorah was transported to Montreal’s CHU Sainte-Justine, where she was discovered with biliary atresia, an uncommon liver ailment that can be deadly.
