CTA Alberta - WestJet "Gift of Flight" Raffle

CTA Alberta is pleased to announce the winner being Ms. Tanya Work of Calgary! Tanya is on the right and her mother, Faye, is a kidney recipient. Tanya and her family are very active with the Kidney Foundation and are participating in the Kidney March.

Tanya's won one roundtrip for two (2) to any regularly scheduled WestJet destination! Alberta Raffle License #406040. All proceeds went to the Canadian Transplant Association (11649 St. Albert Trail NW Edmonton, AB T5M 3L6).

Draw was made on Sunday, Aug 23, 2015 at Fish Creek Provincial Park - Glennfield Area "B", Calgary, Alberta.

Day 1 Ready Set Go - Active Lifestyle after Transplant Education Symposium

Ready, Set, Go!

Hosted by: The Department of Physical Therapy, University of Toronto and Variety Village.

Sponsored by: Toronto Transplant Institute, Astellas and CTA Ontario

Path to an active lifestyle after transplant is an education symposium designed to educate transplant recipients of all ages the benefits of healthy active living through exercise.

This two-day education workshop is aimed to help transplant recipients:

1) Understand the benefits of exercise and physical activity after a transplant

2) Start an exercise program and/or improve their current fitness level

3) Meet training goals through hands-on fitness and sport-specific training

The education workshop will offer two streams:

1) children and adolescent transplant recipients

2) adult transplant recipients. The full day education workshop will address topics such as:

• Exercise Training
• Injury Prevention
• Nutrition
• Goal setting
• Training for general fitness and sports
• And many more!

Day 2 Ready Set Go - Active Lifestyle after Transplant Sports Training Session

Ready, Set, Go!

Hosted by: The Department of Physical Therapy, University of Toronto and Variety Village.

This optional second day is a sport training session held at Variety Village, Scarborough. Experienced volunteers will train and coach transplant recipients with hands-on fitness and sport-specific training which include:

• Track & Field
o Running (5 km, Sprints, Relay)
o High Jump
o Long Jump
o Ball Throw
• Swimming
• Tennis
• Weight Training
• Cardio
• And many more!

The Bowling Event will be held after the training sessions (details to follow)
